Musallam al-Thubut fi Usul al-Fiqh
One of the most important works of Hanafi usul al-fiqh in the classical period, accompanied by the hashiya Al-Taʻlliq al-Manʻut ʻala Musallam al-Thubut by Shaykh Barakatullah ibn Muhammad Ahmad al-Farangi Mahalli al-Hindi. The Musallam al-Thubut by Imam Muhibb Allah al-Bihari (d. 1119 AH / 1707 CE) became a foundational text in the study of the principles of Islamic jurisprudence within the South Asian Hanafi scholarly tradition, and this hashiya covers the text from its opening to the end of the section on foundational principles.
The Musallam al-Thubut occupies a central position in the Dars-i Nizami curriculum for usul al-fiqh. Shaykh Barakatullah al-Farangi Mahalliʻs hashiya reflects the Farangi Mahall scholarly traditionʻs engagement with usul al-fiqh at the highest level, providing students with a rigorous and well-grounded commentary on this demanding text.
Imam Muhibb Allah ibn ʻAbd al-Shakur al-Bihari al-Hindi (d. 1119 AH / 1707 CE) was a distinguished Indian Hanafi scholar and jurist who produced one of the most important works of Hanafi usul al-fiqh in the classical period. His Musallam al-Thubut became a foundational text for the study of the principles of Islamic jurisprudence within South Asian Hanafi scholarship, attracting important commentaries and remaining a core reference in the tradition to this day.
