Imam Tantawi Jawhari (1287–1358 AH / 1870–1940 CE) was one of the most distinctive Egyptian scholars of the modern era, celebrated for his encyclopaedic Quranic commentary Al-Jawahir fi Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim, which engaged extensively with the relationship between revelation and the natural sciences.
